Welcome to the bloggy bit :-)

Thanks for delving this far into Drawn Wild. This will be the section where I will post stuff and talk about things...the usual way a blog works I guess (having never done one, i'll work it out as I go along). I'll try not to make it too boring and hopefully will attempt to keep it somewhat up to date

"Mouse House" anyone?

There's a WIP for this too! I really loved doing this one. To me, it's adorably cute and adding all of the elements of it together was fun to do.

Fly Spotter

This is now finished and it felt so goooooood!
I've named this one 'Fly Spotter'. 😃 Can you see why?

There's a WIP page for this also..

Getting ready to go!

I now have so many drawing projects ready to do, it'll keep me very busy on the boat when we set off on our journey (just in case anyone is also interested in following the blog of that, you can join the facebook page here, https://www.facebook.com/AdventureOnVenture but don't forget that, after you click the 'like' button, hover over it and tick 'get notifications')

Aching to start drawing again!

I'm almost ACHING to start drawing again soon. I have so many ideas ready to go.
Part of the problem is, I have to get any reference materials NOW, before we leave for the around Australia trip in a couple of weeks as we'll have limited Internet access. So for now, all I can do is research and build up my ideas portfolio.

First commission on Venture!

Doing the first graphite for AGES!

And better still, it's the first drawing done on the boat! It's a commission of a beautiful Friesian horse. If I get permission, I'll post some WIP's.

We bought a new house!

So, it happens that Dave and I have decided to quit the stable life for a life on the ocean waves so we sold the house and bought this..

The table is big enough for drawing so it shouldn't interrupt my drawing too much.  We've renamed her "Venture" as it's most definitely an ad-venture for us!

I get sick on boats so this should be fun :-)  I'm actually looking forward to the change of pace!

Textile and Art Academy workshop completed!

I was honoured to be invited to teach a one week course at the Textile and Art Academy in Queensland. I had a wonderful time, met some great people and even managed to get a little drawing done!

Graphite Workshop in QLD!!

Hi all... there's still time to register for my comprehensive 5 day graphite workshop at St Peters Lutheran College, Indooroopilly, Queensland - 24th - 30th of June.

I've completed "Tails"

My latest commission "Tails" Graphite: A3 size.

There were very few pencil marks with this portrait as I wanted to keep him looking as soft and fluffy as possible so much use was made of stumps, erasers and what's turning into my favourite graphite tool, my Derwent Onyx dark, used side on rather than with the point.

There's a WIP sequence here

Whoops

I've been taken by surprise by the interest generated by my appearance on Colour in your Life and re-visited my web site for the first time in ages.

For instance, as I've framed the originals for exhibitions and shows, I've noted on the site that they are "framed" in the description but didn't add the cost of framing to the price of the item (yes I know, that was a bit silly).  The indicative prices on the site for commissioned art work were also very old and didn't reflect the time it takes me to do an art work.

The upshot is that I've had to change some of the prices.  In all cases where we've had to change the prices and you've already ordered the item, we will obviously honour the old price.

I'm very sorry about that.

Too much to do, not enough time.

I've been flat out over the past six months with almost everything but art. However, the good news is that the Wild Whimsy card collection is now available at the Royal Adelaide Hospital Newsagents and are going great guns. The collection of originals was also exhibited in the Challinger Gallery along with two other pieces and I am happy to say that 7 of the 11 artworks have now been sold!
